The features sound cool but would be really impressive if they worked. This detector WAS going to replace my old passport, however, I'm thinking not. The range on it is terrible, I read a review elsewhere stating that the only thing this detector will do is let you know you have a ticket... I should have listened to that review. I've actually tested out over 1,000 miles with my Passport next to this XRS 9500 and my passport does pick up more erroneous readings, however it also picks radar up to a 1 mile before the 9500. The 9500 also goes from 1 bar to 2 bars to full strength right away, unlike the competition. Let's face it, usually at 1 or 2 bars your still deciding if you should brake or not. I would stay away from this detector. The safety alerts showed a train in Wal-Mart (By the way there are no railroad tracks around for 2 miles), a VG1 alert at my house (totally residential area and highly impossible) and other inaccuracies that just don't add up. Good luck in your detector decisions, buckle up and drive safe! (That was safe.. not necessarily slow)

Equipped with 11 bands for monitoring radar and laser detection, the Cobra XRS 9500 is an ideal solution for anyone who spends much of his or her time on the highway. The device scans the X, K, and Ka Superwide radar bands--the three standard bands used by most radar guns--while also keeping an eye out for VG2 and Spectre 1 appliances, which officers use to locate drivers with radar detectors. Thanks to this latter technology, the XRS 9500 is virtually invisible on the road. The device also offers a 360-degree LaserEye function, which detects LTI 20-20, Ultra Lyte, ProLaser, and ProLaser III signals coming from any direction. And to top it off, the XRS 9500 comes with both Safety Alert, which scans for emergency vehicles and road hazards so drivers can avoid traffic snarls, and Strobe Alert, which looks for ambulances and fire trucks using traffic-light-controlling strobes. The Safety and Strobe Alert functions let drivers avoid accident scenes and other perilous situations, so the only traffic they'll face is during rush hour.
Many radar detectors sound false alarms when traveling through dense urban areas, which is why the XRS 9500 includes both city and highway modes. The city mode filters out weak X-band signals--often set off by automatic garage door openers or burglar alarms--thus reducing the likelihood of a false reading. The highway mode, meanwhile, operates at full capacity. The XRS 9500 also includes a DigiView text display, which is easy to read and interpret even at a glance.
Additional features include IntelliMute relative speed sensing; Voice Alert, which provides the user with specific band voice annunciation; a digital signal strength meter that measures the proximity of a radar or laser gun; an AutoMute function that instinctively mutes the alert tone for convenience; and a system-ready prompt that notifies the user when the radar detector has completed its self-test. The XRS 9500, which measures 2.74 by 1.33 by 4.35 inches (W x H x D), is protected by a one-year warranty against defects.
